Eko is in testing, so some of this is rougher than it will be. These are the things that actually trip people up, and what to do about them.
Connecting an account
I tapped "Connect" and nothing happened on my phone
That's expected. Every Connect button opens the sign-in page in your laptop's browser, not on the phone. Go and look at the laptop — the page is waiting there.
For this to work, the phone and the laptop need to be on the same Wi-Fi network, and the Eko server needs to be running on the laptop. If the laptop is asleep or on a different network, nothing will open.
GoDaddy or Titan keeps rejecting my password
If two-factor authentication is switched on for that mailbox, your normal login password will not work here. You need an app-specific password generated from your email provider's own settings.
Use the account's real email address, and that app-specific password, in the form Eko opens on your laptop.
I connected both Outlook and GoDaddy. Which one does Eko use?
GoDaddy/Titan takes priority, on the basis that it's the account's real mail. If you want Outlook to be the active inbox, disconnect GoDaddy/Titan.
Which accounts need connecting at all?
Email (Outlook or GoDaddy/Titan), YouTube, Twitch, Reddit and Slack each connect once.
WhatsApp, SMS and WeChat need nothing connected — Eko writes the message and hands it to the app already on your phone.
Using it day to day
Will Eko send something without me seeing it?
No. Every channel, without exception, routes through the Confirm screen first. You read the draft and choose Send. There is no setting that changes this.
On WhatsApp, SMS and WeChat it goes a step further: Eko doesn't send at all. It hands the finished message to the native app and you send it there.
Do I have to say "comma", "full stop" or "send to Dave"?
No. Speak the way you'd speak to a person. Punctuation, paragraphing and tidying are Eko's job. The only words that carry a special meaning are "work" or "personal" at the very start, which set the tone, and "confirm payment" on a YouTube Super Chat.
The draft is close but not right. Do I have to start over?
No. On email, tap Redraft, hold the mic and say what to change — "make this firmer", "shorten it". The draft rewrites itself, and Undo redraft walks back through the earlier versions.
On any channel, Edit gives you a keyboard for small fixes, and Cancel discards the draft entirely.
Why does the Reply button on an email do nothing?
Reply is visible but deliberately disabled — it's the next feature being built, not a fault. For now, reading mail in Eko and composing a new message are separate actions.
Does opening mail in Eko mark it read in my real inbox?
Yes. Tapping a message marks it read on the actual mailbox, not just inside Eko. If you're using Eko to triage, that's reflected everywhere you read that account.
Newsletters look like a wall of code elsewhere. What happens here?
HTML mail is parsed down to readable text before it's shown, so you get the words rather than the markup.
Does Eko take payment for YouTube Super Chat?
No, and it never will. Saying "confirm payment" copies your message and opens YouTube so you pay on YouTube. Eko doesn't touch a card.
When something isn't working
A connect screen won't open, or the app seems stuck waiting
Run through these in order:
1. Is the laptop awake, and is the Eko server running on it?
2. Are the phone and the laptop on the same Wi-Fi?
3. Is the sign-in page already open in a laptop browser tab you haven't looked at?
Most "stuck" connections are one of those three.
My inbox is empty or won't load more
Check the account still shows as connected at the top of the Email screen. If it does and the list is still empty, disconnect and reconnect the account — and if the mailbox has two-factor on, make sure you're using an app-specific password.

Tell us what you were doing, which channel, and what you expected instead. Send it through here — Eko is in active testing and this is genuinely useful.
